I haven't been to Madrid, but Barcelona is lovely.
Vibrant, cosmopolitan city with Antonio Gaudi's fantastic buildings like in a fairytale.
Nearby is also the sea and mountains, there you breathe a special air. What I think

Exciting move! I lived in Madrid; it's laid-back with rich culture. Barcelona's got a beachy charm. For vibrant life, Barcelona wins with lively streets. Madrid has its energy too, especially in Malasaña. Choose based on your vibe—coastal or historic.
Depends on what you value most

Ultimately, the choice between Barcelona and Madrid as a place to live depends on what you value most in a city. Consider factors like climate, cultural affinity, job opportunities, cost of living, social life, and access to amenities when making your decision. If possible, visit both cities before making a final choice to get a firsthand experience of what each has to offer and see which one aligns better with your lifestyle and preferences. Good luck!

Then madrid, in Barcelona speak catalan, and this is another language. Barcelona is nice and cool but they speak catalan mostly. Valencia is a nice place too, but a lot of people speak valenciano. With sea?? murcia, andalucia, cantabria, asturias. But if you want speak a very perfect spanich, then salamanca, valladolid...., inside the country. That is my opinion only.

La gente de Madrid es mas abierta, mas autentica y tiene muchas mas cosas que ver (quitando el mar claro).
