    moving to azores

posted by  pat ong in Azores forum

had any of you took the step and really moved to azores?
if you haven't yet, you should. this subject was posted almost 3 years ago. doesn't seem there were many replies in order to help you getting answers to your questions or raising new ones. azores are still a very well hidden secret. all islands have their pros (many) and their cons (few), but my favourite island is Santa Maria, also known as island of the sun. beautiful landscape, from mountains with dense florest to desert land, high cliffs to white sand beachs, you can find everything in those amasing 96km2. it's the warmer island with the warmer sea water.
saw some of you have some concern on property prices, either for buying or rent, let me tell you that most deals are done by people passing on the word, so, advertises on the internet are not the only deals nor the best ones. also there are huge price diferences depending on the island and on the region in the islands. most populated areas tend to be more expensive, locals don't like to drive too much to go from home to work and back. too much means 10km in certain cases.
if any of you need help on more informations about living in azores, let me know, i'll be glad to help.
